Eugene Melnyk's Harlington (Unbridled--Serena's Song, by Rahy), the most expensive yearling ever sired by Unbridled, has been retired from racing and will enter stud in 2009 at John Sikura's Hill ‘n' Dale Farms in Lexington, Kentucky. He will command a first-year stud fee of $10,000 Live Foal.

Bred by Lewis Thoroughbreds out of their 11-time Grade I winner Serena's Song, Harlington was purchased for $2.8 million as a Keeneland September yearling from the Denali Stud consignment in 2003 and graduated at first asking and became a "TDN Rising Star" in his next start, a two-turn allowance victory at Gulfstream Park. In all, he was successful in five of his first six trips to the post, defeating a field including champion Funny Cide in the 2006 GII Gulfstream Park H.

Harlington will stand alongside his half-brother Grand Reward (Storm Cat) at Hill ‘n' Dale. The six-year-old is also kin to Sophisticat (Storm Cat), winner in England of the G1 Coronation S.

"Harlington showed great potential from day one and he has unlimited potential as a stallion," said Hill ‘n' Dale President John G. Sikura.

"Harlington was a beautiful yearling by a classic sire out of a great producer. He has all the requirements of a future leading sire." Added Melnyk, "Harlington showed as much potential as any horse we have had. We are supporting him with our top mares as we feel he will become an important sire."
