1/13 - Mass Media to resume training instead of beginning stud career

Mass Media, winner of the 2005 Forego Stakes (G1), will resume training instead of standing his initial season this year at Hill 'n' Dale Farm in Lexington as originally planned.
The five-year-old son of Touch Gold out of Sultry Allure, by Forty Niner, was scheduled to enter stud with an advertised fee of $7,500.
Mass Media finished second in the Hill 'n' Dale Cigar Mile Handicap (G1) on November 26 at Aqueduct in his most recent start. He will return to Racing Hall of Fame trainer Bobby Frankel's barn.
"Our long term goal is the Breeders' Cup Sprint (G1)," said Ben Glass, racing manager for owners Gary and Mary West. "We had mixed emotions regarding the retirement of Mass Media. He is a proven Grade 1 winner, and we feel he can win important races this year. Gary West enjoys watching his horses run, and there is plenty of time to resume a stallion career. In retrospect, our decision to retire Mass Media was probably done in haste. Looking at his division, we think he can win important races this year and enhance his value as a future stallion."
Mass Media has won six of 17 career starts and earned $466,420.
